The proud history of Baldwin Park started nearly 70 years ago when the United States Army Air Corps and Air Force used the land as a base. The Orlando Naval Training Center welcomed nearly 650,000 recruits for basic training in the 1960’s.Lake Baldwin and Baldwin Park take their names from Robert H. B. Baldwin, former Secretary of the Navy. A Veterans Park on the northern shore of Lake Baldwin has been created to commemorate that 60-year period of history.
